Andrew Bird on Kids Show

My buddy David just turned me onto this clip that is apparently almost 2 years old. Regardless, it's pretty awesome to see Andrew Bird, as Dr. Stringz, on the kid's show Jack's Big Music Show.

Also, you can stream Andrew's new collection of instrumental works, titled Useless Creatures here. You can only get the album by ordering the deluxe edition of his upcoming album, Noble Beast.

Gentle Friendly x Nite Tape

Gentle Friendly has put together a nice little fifteen minute mixtape of songs that inspired their Night Tape EP. It is appropriately titled Nite Tape. Tracklist in the image above, mixtape as mp3 below.

Lykke Li x Kings Of Leon cover

Hmm, so Dodge over at MOKB has unearthed this neat little cover/remix of Kings Of Leon's "Knocked Up". Apparently he found the track labeled as the "Rodeo Mashup Remix", but Dodge feels it is a cover and not a remix. After listening I'd have to say it is both. It features some of the original elements from the song combined with Lykke Li assisting on vocals and even soloing some parts. Either way, it is definitely a fantastic listen, so check it out.

Buddha Machine

Ok, this is one of the coolest things I've found on the internet. I'm still not entirely sure just what a Buddha Machine is, but I am loving this site. It is a digital wall of Buddha Machines. You click on one of the machines, pick one of the little tokens, and let it play. Then move on to another, select a token, and let it play. Keep doing this until you have some amazing lo-fi, ambient sounds pulsing from your spekers.

Crazy shit.

The coolest flyer I have ever seen, via No Pain In Pop.

Daytrotter is on it.

Daytrotter has been putting up one amazing session after another the past couple of weeks. I'm not even gonna put up any of the tracks here. Just go check 'em out. In particular: Dear And The Headlights, Crooked Fingers, Annuals, Noah And The Whale, and Dr. Manhattan. All are amazing.

Vivian Girls cover Beach Boys

Vivian Girls have posted up a "Surf's Up Funpack" that features a cover of "Girl Don't Tell Me" by the Beach Boys. It's not a bad cover. The lo-fi thing doesn't usually do it for me, but I dig this a good bit. Just listen to the video above. I'll probably buy the funpack, so if you wanna be cool you better do the same!

Soft Circle :: Avalance

So it seems Grizzly Bear is in Cape Cod working on the new album, which I can't wait for, and in their downtime hanging out with some other awesome musicians. Ed posted on their blog today with music from grizzly friend Hisham Bharoocha's project titled Soft Circle. Check out the track below, and see some more awesome shots like the one above at Grizzly Bear's blog.

Peter Gabriel x Hot Chip cover Vampire Weekend

Oh my, there may just be a music god. Abeano posted a cover of Vampire Weekend's "Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa" done by Hot Chip with Peter Gabriel on the vocals. It was apparently supposed to be the b on the single for the original song, but never happened. Well now we get to listen anyway. Abeano brings up the lyric in the song "It feels so unnatural, Peter Gabriel, too," and I love the Gabriel follows the lyric with "It feels so unnatural to sing your own name."

MP3 :: Peter Gabriel x Hot Chip - Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa (Vampire Weekend Cover)

In related news, Hot Chip is releasing a brand new 4 track EP titled Hot Chip with Robert Wyatt and Geese. You can get a free download of one of the tracks titled "Made In The Dark" here, and they will also send you "We're Looking For A Lot Of Love" on December 19.

Grouper remixed by Phaseone

A new remix of Grouper's "Heavy Water" by Phaseone was put up on gVb pretty early this morning. It sounds incredible.

MP3 :: Grouper - Heavy Water (Phaseone Edit)

Fleet Foxes on Conan last night

Fleet Foxes performed "English House" last night on Late Night with Conan O'Brien and sounded amazing. I can't find a video of just the song, but if you go here and skip ahead to about 33:30 you can catch the boys in action. Also, it seems the band is a part of myspace's "50 Albums You Should Know From 2008". This means you can visit the band's myspace and stream the entire album right now, so if for some reason you have yet to hear the entire thing, go check it out now.
